Luke Haywood

Luke trained at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance (London) graduating with BA in Lighting Design. Working in Theatre, Dance and TV, Luke is keen to explore the way in which lighting can create and control the world of the actor/dancer. He is currently the technical manager and resident lighting designer for Phoenix Dance Theatre

Recent designs include, Calyx and Beast for Phoenix Dance Theatre (UK & European Tour), Dust for AGITART Companyia (Robin Howard Theatre UK), The Wonderful World of Dissocia (Unicorn Theatre UK), Twelfth Night (Turner Auditorium TX USA) and Bright Unconquered Sons (Pleasance Theatre UK & Rozen Theater Netherlands).

Luke recently designed lights for the New Adventures Choreography Award 2016 showcase working with choreographer Jamaal Burkmar at the Platform Theatre he has also designed lights for VERVE, since 2013 working with choreographers such as James Wilton, Ben Duke, Gemma Nixon and Jonathan Goddard, Kerry Nichols, Luca Silvestrini, Anton Lachky, Renaud Wiser and Theo Clinkard.

His lighting is often highlighted by industry reviewers with Dance Europe 2014 reporting, “special praise must go to Luke Haywood’s lighting which is wonderfully atmospheric”.
