The Programme

Mobius Infinity is a professional dance programme in contemporary dance, moving arts, and well-being practices, that reflects the current arts ecology and practice research.

Mobius Infinity acts like a professional performance company. The directors host you as part of an international group of artists for a cross-fertilized working environment, guiding each of you as individuals, and as a group. Programme leaders Gianluca Vincentini and Fabiano Culora each bring 25 years experience of international professional performance practice, and as teachers at conservatoire level training.

Beyond this foundational layer of mentoring, the programme will involve artistic creation with international choreographers/directors and teachers. This will broaden your experiential understanding of contemporary making, rehearsal room dynamics, and performance practices.

You will be immersed in your training at Mobius Atelier, situated in the Medieval hilltop town of Novi Velia - this will encourage a dedicated and focused research time, inspired by the natural beauty of the surrounding Cilento Vallo di Diano e Alburni National Park, Campania, Italy.

You will deepen and refine your practice through multiple performance approaches and the latest somatic patterning research, weaving dextrous performance skill with arts well-being considerations, in an immersive and supportive environment.

You will be mentored to develop your artistic signature and to bring out your individual performance quality, recognising how to apply these to audition, creation and performance contexts.

You will be offered performance opportunity at the end of the programme, including participation in Mobius Atelier’s international summer festival SomArte in Novi Velia, Cilento, Italy.

You will interact with a wide range of dance, theatre and arts well-being professionals, enabling you to experience the dynamism of professional artistic collaboration, widening your network, and inspiring an even stronger desire to move and make the work you want to see in the world.

Term 1

This first term is about coming together as a group and landing together in the work. You will have dedicated time with Co-Directors Fabiano Culora and Gianluca Vincentini to explore through Bodywork and Coaching sessions where you are in your practice, and what your goals are for the year ahead. With Fabiano’s extensive experience you will gain a deep felt knowledge your somatic patterns and the changes needed for you can realise efficient, functional and dextrous moving. With expertly guided questions from Gianluca you will establish a clear, concise awareness of the steps you need to take in your vision and intention as an artist/creative.

You will also be exposed to professional contemporary artists whose practice involves solo and duet making, with a range of methodologies from conceptual to physical. This will help you establish your movement signature, and a self practice with transferable skills to other dance making and producing contexts. The way we work with developing solo and duet dance material at Mobius is in a collective, group study.

At the end of this term you will have a performance opportunity with invited industry audience.

This second term you will engage in the making of two dance works with 2 invited choreographers with an interest in making dances that intersect with sustainable wellbeing practices. These will be 4 week immersive artistic processes which will put into practice learning from the first term as well as extending your creative intelligence and capacity.

You will also work with multidisciplinary guest teachers throughout the term. A broad range of approaches to generating movement will enhance your expressive vocabulary, fine-tuning your performative presence.

The last week of term will be dedicated to rehearsal of these two pieces with a sharing for invited industry audience. This will include restating for outdoor performance which will prepare you for Term 3.

Term 3

Term 2

This final term sees the making of a third dance work with a choreographer and rehearsal direction of previous works which will give you industry-ready skills including ensemble communication, development of movement material, and dramaturgical clarity.

The rest of the term is rehearsal direction and preparation for Mobius Atelier’s festival SomArte, where you will perform the three choreographies alongside invited international artists performing their latest work. You will also have the opportunity to attend workshops and seminars with further guest teachers. You will be involved in the producing and promoting of the festival to attain real-life skills in festival management.

Across the year there will be a chance to digest and consolidate what you are learning throughout your time with Mobius Infinity. You will have group and individual sessions defining next career steps, audition tips, and advice on marketing your artistry.
